The verdict

Good news if most of your spend is online.

Value is strong till the caps: ₹2,000 online and ₹4,000 total per cycle.

Make it work if you can reach ₹2,00,000 a year to waive the fee.

Skip it for fuel, rent, utilities and other excluded spends.

In full

Thinking about the Cashback SBI Credit Card for cashback on both online and offline spends? Here’s what you actually get

5% on online spends capped at ₹2,000 cashback per statement cycle. 1% on offline spends capped at ₹2,000 per cycle. Maximum cashback in a statement cycle is ₹4,000. Cashback gets auto- credited to your SBI Credit Card Account within 2 working days of the next statement generation.

Example that matches the caps: spend ₹50,000 online in one cycle → 5% is ₹2,500, but you get ₹2,000 due to the online cap. After that, online cashback stops for the cycle.

Where it doesn’t earn: Jewelry, Rental, Wallet, Fuel, School and Educational Services, Insurance Services, Utilities, Railways, Card, Gift, Novelty & Souvenir Shops, Quasi Cash, Member Financial Institution, Digital Gaming Platforms/Merchants, Tolls, Government Related Transactions.

Fees and charges to know: joining ₹999 + GST. Renewal ₹999 + GST, waived on ₹2,00,000 spend in the previous year. Forex markup 3.5% + GST. Interest 3.75% per month (45% per annum). Cash advance fee 2.5% with a minimum of ₹500. Fuel surcharge waiver 1% on ₹500-₹3,000 transactions, capped at ₹100 per statement.

Who this suits: you spend mostly online, stay within the caps, and can reach the ₹2,00,000 waiver. If you need rewards on fuel, rent or utilities, this is not it.
